Dinner Impossible at the White Sox

so so so sorry I did not realize the episode in which "Robert tries to feed a section of 200 fans during a Chicago White Sox game" already ran. oops. and I never would have realized it if TFMJ was home - he hogs the dvr. somehow I actually recorded it. phew.

I should mention that the White Sox are playing the Yankees while Robert Irvine attempts to cook a 'gourmet' meal using only food available at US Cellular Field. And he has to do it by the Seventh Inning Stretch, which you know is not at a fixed time. yikes. it really is a Major League Ballpark Challenge.

all the food he is using was frozen. and he found some of that astronaut ice cream crap. even he's not sure what to do with it. "does it melt?" he asked.

the Food Network and Time Warner seem to be in a conspiracy against Scoreboard Gourmet - neither of them will tell me when this episode next airs.

"what does six outs mean?" he asked when someone told him how much time he had left.
I have to say it's totally unfair they made him throw out the first pitch - huge waste of his time.

anyone want to know what happened? or want to tell me when the episode airs again? did this get filmed during the June series?

Get Your Sliced Bread in Palm Beach

 

Part of the Palm Beach Cardinals (Advanced-A) Wackier Than Normal Wednesdays, August 15th will be Best Thing Since Sliced Bread Night (also known as Best Thing Before Sliced Bread Night, which may or may not be a typo). The bread slicer, they tell me, was invented in 1928. The Cardinals plan to salute old, great  inventions And give everyone a slice of bread.

This is the greatest. Will they be passing out bread like flyers to fans entering Roger Dean Stadium? What will fans do with their bread? By the way, the Cardinals play the Vero Beach Devil Days (last place in the Florida State League) that night at 7:05.

I will investigate more....the reason I posted this info so early is because tomorrow (Aug 1) is My Two Cents Night, a night for everyone to let their opinion be known. Each fan will get two pennies when they enter the stadium, and will be polled on issues of the day. I don't totally understand how this will work but it sounds cool. This night the Cardinals play the Daytona Cubs at 7:05.

The owners of Phebe's - 359 Bowery - are Red Sox fans, in case you're wondering how this happened. The Red Sox play the Orioles (in Boston) at 7:05pm.

Houston Texans: Open Training Camp, Food

Says Citisearch re: Reliant Stadium: Two icehouses offering "20 yards" of beer are located on both sides of the 50-yard line and, most importantly, food options range from traditional burgers to sushi. It's a food supply that would impress even John Madden.
because John Madden likes variety or quantity or what? Can someone explain this to me, and tell me more about what's inside Reliant Park?

what I can tell You is training camp started this weekend at Methodist Training Center. and who needs training camp more than the Texans? Get free tickets (2500 per game) at Wachovia Bank for practices on August 2nd at 7:15pm and 4th at 8:30am. Aramark will be there serving up something. I really hope someone can tell me what.
I can also tell you what are the main concessions inside the stadium: 5 Star Dogs, Big Texas Steak House, Cactus Cantina, Cuervo Cantina, Fannin Kirby Ice House, Frozen Treats, Half Moon Tap Igloos Cantina, Maui Wowi Tropical Frozen Drinks, Mission Grill, Papa John's Pizza, Red River Dogs 103, Rio Grande Grill, Tejas Nachos, Texas Cheese Steak Company, Texas Twist Pretzels, The Nutty Bavarian, Sushi Salad

The Cuervo Cantina is a seated bar area on the South Field Level Concourse. It opens when the Stadium opens for each game. All ticket holders are welcome, but note that beverages purchased in the Cuervo Cantina cannot leave the Cantina.

Norfolk Tides Fried Sweets

Fried Twinkies and Fried Snickers (pictured. yes it looks like a weird meat thing) are $3 at Harbor Park, home of the Norfolk Tides (triple-A Orioles). not sure if you can tell, but this thing was covered in powdered sugar.

Iraq is playing Saudi Arabia in the Asian Cup final. It's 0-0, according to espn.com. Finding the match on tv has been quite a challenge (read: didn't happen) - am I insane to think someone might be able to provide some Gelora Bung Karno Stadium Eats info? GBK Stadium is in Jakarta. It's massive, some 90 or 100,000 seats. Yikes. what are they eating there?

actually, only my mom and I picked these two, in case my earlier post wasn't clue enough that tastes were divided.

I was totally into that until I heard that his favorite 'restaurant' is Olive Garden. That's all I'm saying because it's late (or early) and because that's all there is to say.
