189 riders made their way from the Mall in London to the official start of the Tour de France at Greenwich. The race will then head off through Kent to finishing line in Canterbury.
Parisian sports newspaper L'Equipe has supposedly been dissing Britan's grey skies, bomb alerts and bad food. I have to get out my dictionary and have a look.
The race begins at 1100 BST from the meridian line in Greenwich.
Thanks to a SG London correspondent for the excellent picture.
I didn't see any foodstands along the way, which is a shame because I really could have done with a Cornish pasty.-Alana, London
