Babies First Ballgame (and Pregnant Women too)

On Monday, September 3rd at 1pm, Baseball’s First Family and the Brooklyn Cyclones will host a very special Labor Day event at KeySpan Park in Coney Island. That day, the Cyclones will be celebrating "Baby's First Ballgame," and inviting parents to take their children to the ballpark to see their first game. There will be no shortage of activities for new and soon-to-be parents in attendance, beginning with a pre-game Diaper Derby on the field. A Look-a-Like contest will be held, allowing fans to choose which parent-baby combination most closely resembles each other. There will also be a post-game family stroll around the bases, and parents are invited to send a photo of their baby wearing Cyclones merchandise to be shown on the video board to maria@thekbuzz.com. In honor of Labor Day, anyone who gives birth at the ballpark after the gates open, but prior to the end of the game will win a pair of Cyclones season tickets for the next 18 years. In addition, all pregnant women will have an opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch just prior to the game.

Is Opportunity the name of a town? Were there no marketing people involved in the decision to name the facility?

California Speedway Goes to Hollywood

According to a Sporting News article by Michael Smith, California Speedway has been criticized for its boring Nextel Cup races, but a Hollywood-style prerace party called "Running Wide Open" is part of the marketing plan to make sure no one is yawning before its next event on Labor Day weekend.

How could watching cars drive around a circle - even a d-shaped one - be boring? Oh.

What's great is that the premiere (get it? Hollywood? Eyes Wide Open meets Running on Empty) was not held at the Speedway, but at a nightclub. Love it. Also it was last night. Sorry about that. But I'm guessing You did not want to drop $2,500 for a ticket. In case I am wrong, please write in and tell me what You ate at the pre-Nextel Cup party...I heard the food was done by Wolfgang Puck.

I love both of these products. let's consider the numbers:

Utz Potato Chips: 1.5oz bag = 220 calories (130 from fat).
Bazzini Peanuts: 7oz bag = 1190 calories (770 from fat).

not that it's easy (or recommended) to eat an entire 7oz bag of peanuts, but you do get 49g of protein if you do.

Third Pound Burgers and Two Crap Reporters

TFMJ and I are watching the worst Yankees Game Wrap-Up ever. Not only are the reporters horrible, but the commercials are too. The only thing that makes this show tolerable is tonight's win. WOR-9, by the way, the place to watch Friday night games (and, obviously, select other nights too).

Anyway, one of the commercials was for McDonald's new Third Pound Burger. We actually had to discuss the name to make sense of it.
Does McDonald's think that a bigger burger that sounds smaller (three smaller than four) is a good idea? Do they really want people to be fatter? Can someone please explain to me why this product exists?

If You didn't already guess, I finally made it down to the field level at Shea. Thank you Pete and Thank you Two Boots.

Left Field is the place for Mama's of Corona (see earlier post) and Nathan's. The people at the Nathan's counter could not have been nicer nor more tolerant of my inability to discern which hot dog was the most burnt (aka my inability to order). Thank you super friendly Nathan's staff. And your 'kraut is delicious. Better than the hot dog, in fact.
I ate half my hot dog (see picture), but all of my 'kraut and bun. With mustard, of course. Gold's. First mustard packet would not open. phooey.

WI better than MI for Football Stadium Eats?

Someone told me that Wisconsin has better food - like sausage stuffed with cheese - than Michican. I'm talking Big Ten here, not USA.

Diamondbacks Lunch Boxes!

Wow is this the worst post ever. Did I even think about it before saving it? Did it help anyone to procure a Diamondbacks Lunchbox (designed by Todd McFarlane)? Unlikely. Forgive me. August 26th has come and gone. I will not ignore You anymore (this week).
