from dictionary.com, one of my favorite websites:
as·sort·ed [uh-sawr-tid ] -adjective
1.consisting of different or various kinds; miscellaneous: assorted flavors; assorted sizes.
2.consisting of selected kinds; arranged in sorts or varieties: rows of assorted vegetables.
3.matched; suited.
I·tal·ian [i-tal-yuhn] –adjective
1. of or pertaining to Italy, its people, or their language.
–noun
2. a native or inhabitant of Italy, or a person of Italian descent.
3. a Romance language, the language of Italy, official also in Switzerland. Abbreviation: It, It., Ital.
It was TFMJ who first spotted the Assorted / Italian Sandwich. That was at the Buffalo Bison (triple-A Indians). We later saw it at the Rochester Red Wings (triple-A Twins).
It's equally hilarious and confusing. Are non-Italian sandwiches not assorted? So ham-and-cheese-on-rye is Italian? Even if it's domestic boiled ham and New York State cheddar? Hmm...
Somebody help me please. What's the deal here?
