James McAvoy was recently on the Daily Show telling Jon Stewart about his visit to Yankee Stadium. Apparently he got a headache from drinking beer in the sun and he had a "philly cheesesteak sandwich" which I have to guess (a) came from Carl's and (b) he did not stand in line for, or he would have mentioned the line.
Jon asked him is he noticed there was a game on.
To which he said that the thing he noticed about American sports was a lot of stopping, a lot of drinking, and a lot of food and that no one seems to pay attention until the final quarter.
Jon asked him if that meant he considered American sports to be an excuse for a picnic,
They laughed; I laughed.
McAvoy was impressed by fans of opposing teams sitting near one another. And he mentioned the absence of alcohol at soccer matches in the UK. Bloody, was how he imagined alcohol+fans of opposing teams together. Damn soccer hooligans. Never see drunken altercations here :)
