It's 8/8/08 so I bet get cracking on Olympic coverage. Stayed tuned for the Peking Duckathalon.
Of course we have our own 'high-performance center' where athletes train, eat and play. It's called Beijing Normal University
From the NYTimes article: The athletes eat in another building, and the food is scrumptious, the athletes said. Maybe too good. Some athletes who compete in a weight class have some pounds to lose. Williams-Murray has 12 pounds to shed. Ali has nine pounds. (To be fair, the athletes’ village has free McDonald’s fare, so, for some, losing weight there can also be a challenge.)
Some food was shipped from the United States, but some was purchased locally, Roush said.
On Monday, the dinner menu included chili-rubbed steak and herb-roasted cod. This, by no means, is a college cafeteria.
The athletes sit in rooms with dark wood, at tables with tablecloths and fresh chrysanthemums. A koi pond is in the distance. They are served by students from Sullivan College-Louisville, a culinary school in Kentucky. A catering company from Staten Island and the Olympic committee staff from Colorado are also here.
Let's Go USA...Let's Go USA.
Did you hear about that boxer who passed out? Where are all these trainers watching what our athletes eat and drink? Lesson for everyone else: it's fing summer. drink water
