Mental Athletes! The 12th USA Memory Championship will be held Tomorrow (Saturday) at Con Edison's headquarters at 4 Irving Place in Manhattan. ConEd provides food and drink for the athletes. Isbre is providing water for spectators. That's Free water and Free entry.
The 2008 reigning USA Memory Champion is Chester Santos. I'm told he eats special foods to train/prepare. I'm hoping he reaches out to me to tell us about it.
List of Registered Mental Athletes
Thanks for letting is know, Chester.
And, Congratulations to Ron White - he remembered the order of an unordered deck of cards, and 167 random digits in a row (US record was 160) to win the contest. He's now off to the World Memory Championships in Bahrain.

I try to avoid sugar as much as possible close to the competition, since excess sugar can hinder memory ability. I give up all desserts starting about 1 month in advance of the competition. I also give up alcohol at least 1 month in advance of the competition. In addition, I take some vitamins and supplements everyday. You can read more about that in my most recent blog entry:
