Ohio State in Pasadena

Ohio State will play in the 94th Rose Bowl game, following the 119th Rose Parade. I know this isn't news to anyone but maybe it is news to you that downtown Pasedena is like Anytown, USA. did I already mention this frightening news? Nothing about Pasedena is unique. Every store, shop and restaurant is a chain. So if you're not interested in something new or different, if you want to avoid experience of any sort, swing by downtown Pasedena before the Rose Bowl (you can catch a shuttle to the stadium) and have excatly the same crap you can have in 150 other places. so sad. I wonder what it was like in the late 1880's.

Domino's and Michigan

Legendary Michigan coach Bo Schembechler (who passed away last year) was all about blocking and tackling (the fundamentals); he hated trick plays.

It's no news that one of his former players (who was part of 3 Big Ten Championship teams) is now CEO of Domino's. In case it is news to you - that player is David Brandon, who takes the lessons he learned from his coach and applies them to his business strategy. blah blah blah.

here's something interesting: the Superbowl is the Largest Pizza Delivery Day of the Year.
but it's only November.

David Brandon says the more the weather cools and it gets dark earlier, the more people are planted in front of their tv's watching football. these couch potatoes get hungry and want a hot, Domino's pizza delivered to enjoy during the second half of the game. His prediction for the Michigan / Ohio State game? "We're going to be really busy and we like that."

#7 Ohio State (10-1, 6-1) and #21 Michigan (8-3, 6-1) play in Ann Arbor at 12pm today.

Penn State fans can double up on their Joe at breakfast

from the AP...not news but still interesting...

Football coach Joe Paterno's likeness will appear on boxes of "Super Donuts" and "Super Buns" cinnamon buns made by R Super Foods. It's a Pittsburgh company owned by NFL Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris, one of Paterno's former players.

Paterno's picture is part of a promotion to honor sports figures that have "immersed themselves in their local communities, providing initiatives and community service that helps others," Harris said at a State College supermarket, flanked by Paterno's wife, Sue.

"I couldn't stop at just one," she joked about snacking on the food. "Joe has more discipline."

Sue Paterno said her 80-year-old husband still attends rehabilitation a couple times a week as he recovers from a broken left leg and torn knee ligaments suffered during a sideline collision in November. He can walk without a cane, she said.

Joe Paterno has been traveling in recent weeks wooing high school recruits.

Paterno has been featured on food products before, including Wheaties and loaves of Italian bread. A portion of proceeds from the sale of each box of the Paterno-edition Super Donuts and Super Buns will be donated to an endowment fund for the university library that bears his name.

Cleveland Browns Backers in NYC

Blondies is the home of the Penn State Alumni, Michigan State Alumni, University of Oklahoma, University of Virginia, Northwestern University, University of Kansas, Indiana University, University of Tennessee, Ohio State, Johns Hopkins University and the home of the Cleveland Browns Backers.

Brownies fans meet at upstairs Blondies East on gamedays. It's a great crowd. And the pigs in blankets are good too. If I was not recovering from watching the Indians yesterday with my favorite Browns fans, I'd be heading up there now. Maybe I can pull myself together. Other games will be on the smaller screens but the crowd will be BROWNS.

The Browns play the Raiders at 4:05pm (ET)
