23-cent Apology Pizzas for Cavs Fans

From the AP...Papa John's Pizza issued an apology to Cleveland and the Cavaliers for making T-shirts with LeBron James' number and the word "crybaby" under it.

To apologize, Papa John's will sell Cleveland residents a large, one-topping pizza for 23 cents on Thursday. The 23 is an homage to James' jersey number.
The company also will donate $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.

The pizza chain's T-shirts were featured during the Cavs' games against the Wizards on Friday in Washington. Wizards fans taunted the Cavs, who won the playoff series that night in Game 6.
The shirts started after James complained about hard fouls, and Wizards center Brendan Haywood called him a crybaby.

Cleveland: Cavaliers and Winking Lizard Guest Post

Cleveland info from a SG Fan...

Hey SG. Here in lovely Cleveland. Actually emailing from the home of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Today the cavs got Ben Wallace and the coity is abuzz. So far I have indulged in 2 Downtown dogs $4, 1 Beer $6.25.  Some Tshirt giveaway thing is going on. I see that they have a Yellowtail wine kiosk. Haven't checked it out yet. There also seems to be a Digiorno pizza thing and a Panini.  We were able to score some decent tickets outside right before the end of the 2nd quarter. The arena looks like a great facility. We are right under the boxes. They look like a pretty nice deal. Will be checking out the team store for kiddo schwag. I'll ask my buddy to take some Iphone pics for the website. Talk soon

----

Little addition...after a GREAT Cavs game, LeBron hit 2 free throws with 7 1/2 seconds left to win the game, we hit the Winking Lizard on East 9th for wings and brews.  You can do either 12 for $8 or 24 for $13. The flavors run the gamut from Teriyaki to Mild, Sesame Seed hot to the top that was SUPER HOT. I opted for mild. A little disappointed as they didn't have much of a kick. Also the 32oz beer was only 4 bucks more. Great beer list with a ton of worldwide variety, however no corsendunks monks ale. I went with my canadian labatts blue, my buddy from seattle had an aspenwall dry cider.

thanks, J. love it when info is shared. what's corsendunks monks ale?

the Cavs play the Grizzlies at 6pm tomorrow.

Indians Club Seats/Lounge Kick Butt of DevilRays

Indiansclub What else can I say? Don't you love this pic of the baseball fans watching the basketball game? That's what's happening there; it's the Jacobs Field Club Lounge on a night of a Cavaliers playoff game. Actually, I can say something else: the Indians have the most fantastic staff, maybe in all of MLB. Everyone - from the telephone ticket people to the window ticket people to the vendors to the hosts in the club lounge - remembers and cares that they're in the service industry. It's great.

As you can see by the pic, I was given a tour of the Club Lounge and the seating area in front. Great vibe in there, much much much better than in Tampa. It was all light-colored and airy. Tampa? A dark dump, and you already know that we had to take an elevator to get there from our seats. Anyhoo, people were happy with their food, and their seats. And why wouldn't they be? Flat screen TV's, a little souvenir shop, a full bar, all-inclusive unlimited food (pasta, sandwiches, Mexican, salads, soup, pizza, ice cream, hot dogs, etc.) More info: 216-420-4497 or email: premium@indians.com.

    Cleveland Pre-Game Eating

    Gocavwsmkt
Downtown Cleveland is teeming with Indians, Tigers, Cavaliers and Pistons fans.
Our hotel has a '50 Paces From the Bases' promo that somehow was not offered to us...Free Parking, 2 bags of peanuts and Free Breakfast. Needless to say, it's a full house.

Anyway, before checking in, we stopped by the West Side Market, Ohio's oldest operating indoor/outdoor market (it opened on Halloween in 1912). Look for the Neo-Classical/Byzantine-style clock tower and building. We had a brat sandwich, an Italian sausage sandwich, a Johnny's hot dog, and some ice-cream. We also bought Ballpark Mustard.
If we had a bigger cooler and/or it wasn't so hot, we could have bought fruit and vegetables and meat and cheese and sauerkraut and pierogies and and and.

location: corner of West 25th and Lorain (across the Carnegie-Lorain bridge from Jacobs Field)
    hours: mon and wed 7 - 4, fri and Sat 7 - 6
