Secret Stadium Sauce

Sss First of all I have to say that DelawareNorth just may be the best food concessionaire in sports. Can anyone dispute that? If nothing else, they are the most organized. And I think their food is the best. Is that because I have not been to too many of their sports venues? Let's discuss (comments below).

And now the Main Event: Secret Stadium Sauce, the condiment of Miller Park.

DelawareNorth President Rick Abramson said he invented Secret Stadium Sauce one night in the early 1970's when there was not enough ketchup and mustard to spread around at County Stadium. It is available for purchase in most Wisconsin grocery stores. I'm told it tastes something like ketchup+sauerkraut.

Here's another place to buy Secret Stadium Sauce, if you can't get to Miller Park or a Wisconsin supermarket. Tell them SG sent you so that they love me.

Angels Condiments Take Two (plus Monkey talk)

AngelmonkeyHow on earth did I forget about the condiments monkey when I was dissing the condiments at Angels Stadium? Why have such a great sign when you really don't have any condiments / when your condiments are non transportable?

And how did I forget to ask the question that plagued me throughout the entire game - Why is a Monkey the Mascot? I must have seen 20 vendors selling monkeys. I don't get it.

Angels Stadium: Mucho Eats Variety, No Condiment Packets

Angelcondi Not surprisingly, I'm having some computer issues that extend to my camera. I do have many pictures of food at Angels Stadium so Stay Tuned.

In the meantime here's my favorite thing about the ballpark: Small ($3), Medium ($4), and Large ($5) hot dogs. And here's my least favorite thing about the ballpark: neither Mustard nor Ketchup packets. What the ?
But you can get a little serving of chopped raw onions. I don't get it.

Mustard v Mustard in Cleveland

ClvmustardBallpark or Stadium Mustard?

Which is better? Which is the favorite in town? Can some Clevelanders please write in and tell me what Mustard You like best?
According to Irene Dever who sells both from her stall in the West Side Market, the difference between the mustards is that Stadium has cayenne. So the Browns like it spicy, huh? Well, not only the Browns, Stadium Mustard gets around. I'm trying to locate a complete list of stadiums/arenas where SM is served. Here are some things I can tell you...
Ballpark: since 1925, 16oz container, kosher, 10 calories per 1 teaspoon (little sugar in there)
Stadium: 50+ years old, 12oz container, 5 calories per 1 teaspoon, no sugar
$2.50 from Irene Dever
$2.39 from Giant Eagle...but you already know the West Side Market is so worth the trip
Honestly, I've only opened a Ballpark since returning home. but I plan to have a Mustard v Mustard tasting soon. stay tuned.

Cleveland Pre-Game Eating

Gocavwsmkt
Downtown Cleveland is teeming with Indians, Tigers, Cavaliers and Pistons fans.
Our hotel has a '50 Paces From the Bases' promo that somehow was not offered to us...Free Parking, 2 bags of peanuts and Free Breakfast. Needless to say, it's a full house.

Anyway, before checking in, we stopped by the West Side Market, Ohio's oldest operating indoor/outdoor market (it opened on Halloween in 1912). Look for the Neo-Classical/Byzantine-style clock tower and building. We had a brat sandwich, an Italian sausage sandwich, a Johnny's hot dog, and some ice-cream. We also bought Ballpark Mustard.
If we had a bigger cooler and/or it wasn't so hot, we could have bought fruit and vegetables and meat and cheese and sauerkraut and pierogies and and and.

location: corner of West 25th and Lorain (across the Carnegie-Lorain bridge from Jacobs Field)
hours: mon and wed 7 - 4, fri and Sat 7 - 6

Condiments Battle: Clearwater v. Tampa

Tycondiments You already know how much I enjoyed the Lakeland condiments but they are second (in the general vicinity of Tampa Bay) to Clearwater (bottom pic). Jalapenos! Color! Variety! Even daylight could not have made Tampa (left pic) look good. Ctcondiments

Lakeland Flying Tigers have Grrreat Condiments

Seriously. Look at that picture: ketchup, sauerkraut, onions, relish, yellow mustard, and (not shown) mayo and brown mustand. And there was only one food concession open. And there were only about 100 people at the game. 6pm tonight is the last of the 3-game series v. Dunedin (Adv-A Blue Jays)

Do you feel confused? You should. The amazing picture I have of the amazing Lakeland condiments has gone missing. If you are at a game and are not embarrassed to take a photo of condiments, please please take a few and send them to me. muchas gracias in advance.
