Food Network Steak Sandwiches at Reds, Indians, Tigers, Rangers, Cardinals, Brewers, Padres, Orioles games

The Food Network has a sandwich for MLB fans: the Red, White & Blue Steak Sandwich, served on a French demi-baguette, topped with Maytag blue cheese and Peppadew-pepper mayonnaise. Sounds awesome. Happy 75th Bday Hormel and Dinty Moore

We don't usually do recipes around here, but since we love the former Hormel Hall of Fame, and since chili is great football-watching food, and since I have these great retro ads to share, and since it's not much of a recipe, we're doing it.

Chili Cheese Dip with Chips
1 (15-ounce) can Hormel® Chili No Beans
1 (16-ounce) package Cheddar cheese, cubed
Corn chips
*In large saucepan, combine chili and cheese. Heat over low heat, stirring frequently, until cheese is melted and chili mixture is hot and bubbly. Serve with corn chips. Serves 8.

Nolan Ryan Hickory Smoked Beef Franks

"Having grown up in ballparks, I know how important a good hot dog is," said Nolan Ryan in the press release introducing his Hickory Smoked Beef Franks, made from beef sourced from cattle sans growth hormones or antibiotics and have been fed a 100 % vegetarian diet. The hot dogs are now available at Corpus Christi Hooks and Round Rock Express games, and at various supermarkets in Texas, and online at NolanRyanBeef. I want some of these on my grill. Who has tried?

Burgers, Beer and Sports in Miami Beach

Holy cow did we hit the motherlode - awesome burgers, 99 bottled beers (plus 6 or so tap), and a sports bar in Miami Beach: Burger & Beer Joint (1766 Bay Road). Bikers too. And people full of drink.

You may know that a Shake Shack just opened here too, but it's sure not the same. More on that later.

Steak Sandwich at Yankee Stadium

Where in heck is my Beef on Weck photo? From Buffalo? From Schwabl's? Grr. Here's what I learned in Buffalo - it's not Beef on A Weck, It's Beef on Weck. And it's prime rib.

Weck = a Kummelweck roll which is basically a hard roll (not hero) with coarse salt and caraway seeds on top. It's delicious. I should probably give Rochester some credit here too - it's a Western NY thing. And now you can get one at Yankee Stadium, here called USDA Prime Beef Steak Sandwich Served On A Weck Roll. See why I don't believe the staff when they tell me it's Lobel's? Why would Lobel's not be mentioned in the name?

Beyond Lobel's at Yankee Stadium

ScoreboardGourmet is the kind of person who what-ifs. It's not good, I know, but What If I'd started my Yankee Stadium 2010 Food Tour on the Field Level? What If I'd walked to right field first? What If the Yankees had actually sent me some sort of food guide to prepare me? Well, none of that matters, does it? I did not get to eat the anti-Lobel's at Yankee Stadium...this time. But I will.

Until then I can tell you that NYY Steak, the restaurant, has a little outpost in a space I'm pretty sure was some sort of taqueria last year. Turn right at Field Level when you enter through Gate 6. The staff at NYY Steak Express tells me their steak sandwiches, also $15, are made with Lobel's meat. This information needs fact-checking.

Scoreboard Gourmet eats Shake Shake at Citi Field

You all know I'm usually pretty down on Shack Shack. I hate hype. And I really hate lines. And hype+lines=disappointment. That said, today I ate the best Shake Shack burger ever. Yes it was a media day. Yes it was in a controlled environment. Yes it's not a fair representation. But I have to say it was really, really good.
