Rays Get Fancy Zachys Wine Program: Two Wine Bars, Rotating Selection

The Tampa Bay Rays continue to step up their game, food and drink game, that is. I really can't say anything negative about a team that builds wine bars in their ballpark, stadium, enclosure. Really I can't.

Dave Pasternack Cheats on Mets, with Rays!?!

 I can't believe this news, mostly because it means I may have to stop criticizing Tropicana Field. Sheesh. Chef Dave Pasternack has partnered up with concessionaire Centerplate to offer two new food stands to Rays fans, which means to relocated New Yorkers who go to Yankees games. Hee hee. I can't give the Rays a break.

Moving on, Fresco Fish Taco and Ti Dave’s Po’ Boys stands will serve signature menu items Pasternack created especially for Rays fans.

MLB Ballparks Opening Dates

In honor of the Twins new ballpark - Target Field (pictured above and in a lovely album in the middle column) - officially opening tomrrow, Monday April 12th, 2010 when the team takes on the Red Sox at 3:10pm, here's a list of all 30 MLB Ballparks and the year they opened.

What The Red Sox and Rays Have in Common

I know some bloggers who disable their comment sections when the Rays are at Fenway and/or the Red Sox are at Tropicana Field. That's what makes this news so exciting: This season at Tropicana Field you can get a Fenway Frank.

Charlotte Sports Park: Rays Spring Training Year One

The Tampa Bay Rays and Charlotte Stone Crabs do Not allow (1) Containers of any type, and (2) Any food and drink, EXCEPT those needed for medical purposes into Charlotte Sports Park

Six fixed concessions areas located throughout the ballpark feature a variety of food options. Portable concessions carts featuring an additional variety of specialty food items are also located throughout the ballpark. Credit cards are accepted at the fixed concessions stands.

Home Stand Concessions

Featuring standard ballpark fare, two Home Stand Concessions stands are located on the main concourse behind sections 202-203 on the first base side and 217-218 on the third base side.

Hot Corner Grill

Located on the main concourse behind section 214, the Hot Corner Grill offers grilled favorites.

Kids Clubhouse Concessions

Kid-friendly food options are available at the Kids Clubhouse Concessions stand located beside the Kids Clubhouse play area, behind sections 201-202 on the first base side.

Tiki Bar

A full liquor tiki bar is located in left centerfield on the Baseball Boardwalk. Seating is available to all ticketed fans on a first come, first served basis.

Boardwalk Grill

Unique grilled concessions can be found adjacent to the Tiki Bar in left centerfield.

Phillies v Rays Question

here's what I'm wondering while I watch this game... is the whole foods 365 brand shells and white cheddar (box) saltier than it used to be? they've had that new packaging for awhile but I can't remember if I'd had any since the change. I know the half-vanilla-half-chocolate faux oreos they make completely changed when the box changed...for the worse. I truly hope that has not happened with this mac and cheese too. next they'll change the frozen vegetables and I'll never shop there again. oh yeah, world series. nice little play by Utley to end the top of the 7th.

The Rain in Philly Stays Mainly on the Field

For the first time in Major League Baseball history, a World Series game has been suspended. Rain halted Game 5 of the Fall Classic in the bottom of the sixth inning on Monday night when the field at Citizens Bank Park was deemed unplayable.

The tarpaulin was pulled across the infield at 10:40 p.m. ET, with the Phillies and Rays tied, 2-2. There is no set time when it is expected to be removed. That is a matter that only Mother Nature can answer -- not the Phillies, the Rays or even the office of the Commissioner.

Man v Nature. I love it. Baseball in November. I hate it.

Some people think the Tampa Bay Rays are in the World Series because of the talent of the players. Not enough attention, however, has been given to the Rays’ secret weapon — the ancient American staple, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

This is true. The Rays are here because of the outstanding good karma of allowing fans to bring their own food and drinks into the dome, which they could not do until three years ago. One reporter recalls not being allowed to bring a sandwich into Tropicana Field under the old ownership.

In most sports arenas and stadiums in this great land of freedom and opportunity, people can probably slip in a sandwich or unobtrusive snacks. But with inspections at every gate, fans are not allowed to bring anything substantial or drinks of any kind — and often get the feeling they will be taken under the stands and beaten with rubber hoses if they try.

wanna know something funny? it's been the entire season, and most of the post season, and the dang team is in the world series, but I still have the 'devil' in my category designation. ha. did their deal with him expire? looks like their new master is even more powerful. did I mention I'm moving across the street from a mega church? not on purpose but clearly it's impacting me. go phillies.

Dave Winfield Wheaties Box

 Did I ever make a category called 'breakfast' need to get on that. Did you know that Dave WInfield never played in the minors? He's one of few Hall of Famers to skip that learning period. I guess You knew that.

There's a 'locker' set up for him in Petco Park. One for Ray Kroc too, but more on that later. I believe that Wheaties box came out in honor of Winfield's Hall of Fame induction. Still cool though. Makes me want some cereal.

Makes me want to ask the Rays how in hell they managed to lose that game? Not that I'm actually rooting for the Rays and the lamest World Series of all the playoff options. But, you know.
