Maui Wowi Hawaiian at Spring Training in Peoria

Maui Wowi Hawaiian is as close as you can get to going to Hawaii without hopping on a plane ...another plane, that is, assuming you flew to Phoenix to check out Mariners and/or Padres Spring Training. I love this photo. Thanks again to the Peoria Sports Complex.

Do You know what these people are standing in line for? Fresh Fruit Smoothies (Strawberry Banana, Passion Papaya, Mango Orange, Banana Banana, Pina Colada, Kiwi Lemon-Lime, Black Raspberry, Lemon Wave). And there's an "adult option" with every drink, which means liquor.
Maybe I should not have colored that smoothie flavor, but the color is called Banana! And maybe I should not include that entire list. Hmm. Maui Wowi also has Kona Coffee and Espresso.

Maui Wowi Hawaiian has more than 400 locations (franchises) plus about 800 under development. That's exciting. Know what else is exciting? The Root Beer Float stand on the left (that color is called Nutmeg, btw).

The knicks aren't losing and they're still selling juice at the garden. orange, apple or cranberry (apple & eve). $4.25 and they take the cap off.

Orange Juice across from Fort Myers Ballpark, Part Two

 "across" is a bit of a strong term, and "fort myers ballpark" does not exist. 

Sun Harvest is really about a mile from Hammond Stadium (same road) and considerably further from City of Palms Park. but it's a fun stop, mostly for the free samples of juice and oranges.

As Mike from the Bronx-NJ-Fort Myers said (we met him around the free juice set-up): grapefruit is the best because it's the least sweet.

I wish I had some right now. I wish we lived in a world where you could bring containers of fresh Florida grapefruit juice on the plane. Or into the ballpark. Can't bring it into Hammond Stadium though it's advertised in right field (over Girardi's head).

They're Juicing in Miami; Go Heat!

What am I always saying? Besides peopleneedbettermanners? I'm always saying there needs to be more juice in professional sports. Well guess what? The Heat have juice!

It's advertised as fresh squeezed but mine came from a plastic gallon jug and tasted pretty carton-y but, still, it was Juice! and the small (pictured right, not the mini sample) is $5.

Guess what else they have? Wheatgrass (left corner of left picture). That's really impressive. Who can beat that?

No Guava Juice in the New Yankee Stadium

I can't say it's a surprise to learn that Salsa on the Go, the Goya concession, isn't making it to the New Yankee Stadium.

Readers of this site know I was a huge fan of the juice and a small fan of the nachos at this left field-level concession (small because I don't really like nachos; these were the best in the ballpark).
And you also know that the main patrons of Salsa on the Go were beer drinkers who didnot wish to stand in line elsewhere.

But now those of us who liked to mix Guayaba and ice and water (in the excellent Goya cups) are out of luck. Or are we? Will there be juice in the New Yankee Stadium? Two months to find out.

Orange Juice across from Fort Myers Ballpark

I hear "the orange juice place" across the street from the Fort Myers spring training complex (Twins) has great OJ, lemonade and other citrus beverages.

That's Sun Harvest. I'm checking it out later this month, and I could not be more excited. Is it just a tourist trap or is it a house of orange deliciousness?

Diet soda is 100 percent nutrition-free

That's the greatest thing I've read in years. Faithful readers of ScoreboardGourmet should that I am hugely anti diet soda. Thank you David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding of Men's Health for this information (which we've seen before but it's nice to be reminded of why we seriously need to push for Juice In Stadiums and Ballparks):

Just because diet soda is low in calories doesn't mean it can't lead to weight gain.
It may have only 5 or fewer calories per serving, but emerging research suggests that consuming sugary-tasting beverages--even if they're artificially sweetened--may lead to a high preference for sweetness overall. That means sweeter (and more caloric) cereal, bread, dessert--everything.
Guzzling these drinks all day long forces out the healthy beverages you need.
Diet soda is 100 percent nutrition-free, and again, it's just as important to actively drink the good stuff as it is to avoid that bad stuff. So one diet soda a day is fine, but if you're downing five or six cans, that means you're limiting your intake of healthful beverages, particularly water and tea.
There remain some concerns over aspartame, the low-calorie chemical used to give diet sodas their flavor.
Aspartame is 180 times sweeter than sugar, and some animal research has linked consumption of high amounts of the sweetener to brain tumors and lymphoma in rodents. The FDA maintains that the sweetener is safe, but reported side effects include dizziness, headaches, diarrhea, memory loss, and mood changes. Bottom line: Diet soda does you no good, and it might just be doing you wrong.

Yankee Stadium Food Prices - All Star Week Starts Sunday

These first photos (left and right) are the menus at the big left field food concessions area.

Hopefully this doesn't take too long to load. I made the pictures smallish. Third picture (left) is from the same concessions area - it's the Goya stand, the only place in the ballpark where you can get juice (not including kids meals, also sold in this area).

There's Chinese food there too. I never get food from that stand - haven't yet craved fried rice at a game - but other people do. 

I can't find my picture of the grill down there. You'll have to come back for that. Beers of the world is there too. And Carvel...

Madison Square Garden Juice and Water Bottle Tops

Because I obviously only order juice and water so that I can throw the bottles at the court, the good people of MSG will not give me bottle tops.
And by 'good people' I seriously mean good people. The vendor, not wanting to break rules but understanding how annoying it is to have two uncapped bottles, gave me two condiments cups to use as caps. I love her.
It was a great idea that worked until TFMJ kicked my water bottle.

Crossing Vineyards at Trenton Thunder

We use only the finest Pennsylvania grapes, says the Crossing Vineyards website.
