Jack Daniel's Lounge at McFadden's at Citi Field

In case you're wondering how long it's been since I went to a Mets game, this was my first time at McFadden's at Citi Field. It's a cool space, but I wish there was somehow an upstairs part that looked out on the field. Anyway, inside McFadden's, in a back corner, you can find the Jack Daniel's Lounge. This past weekend they were having $5(!) Jack specials. Just what you need before entering a game. That said, it's the best beverage deal in the ballpark (as you can see by this gorgeous photo).

Dave Pasternack Cheats on Mets, with Rays!?!

 I can't believe this news, mostly because it means I may have to stop criticizing Tropicana Field. Sheesh. Chef Dave Pasternack has partnered up with concessionaire Centerplate to offer two new food stands to Rays fans, which means to relocated New Yorkers who go to Yankees games. Hee hee. I can't give the Rays a break.

Moving on, Fresco Fish Taco and Ti Dave’s Po’ Boys stands will serve signature menu items Pasternack created especially for Rays fans.

MLB Ballparks Opening Dates

In honor of the Twins new ballpark - Target Field (pictured above and in a lovely album in the middle column) - officially opening tomrrow, Monday April 12th, 2010 when the team takes on the Red Sox at 3:10pm, here's a list of all 30 MLB Ballparks and the year they opened.

Citi Field Joins the Garlic Fries at Ballparks Game

Longtime top-10 favorite ballpark snack of Scoreboard Gourmet, and favorite New Citi Field eat of SNY's Ted Berg... we excitedly introduce Garlic and Parmesean Frites from Box Frites. When You taste them they will be in a box, not in a pile. 

Citi Field Catch of the Day; what Dave Pasternack Eats At The Game

Last season we deemed Dave Pasternack's corn and clam chowder The Best in the Ballpark. This year we spent a few minutes talking to the chef himself.

"We didn't know what to expect," DP says when SG asks about Mets fans + thick, chunky seafood soup. "But we sold a ton of chowder last year."

DP also tells SG that he eats a Fish Sandwich when he goes to a Mets game. "I like the chowder too," he adds. "The chowder is good" (that's what we said). Then he eats some tacos.

Blue Smoke at Citi Field

Pitmaster Kenny Callaghan deserves some love. Blue Smoke will have a second Citi Field location this year - up on the Promenade Level. No Shake Shack, as rumored. Cascarino's Pizza at Citi Field

Which of these is the Buffalo Chicken and which is the Veggie? This is another case of Heat Lamps Do Not Flatter Food and May Even Confuse Your Camera Especially If You Are Already Camera-dumb. SG doesn't usually eat pizza at baseball games but has been tempted by Cascarino's because live, at Citi Field, it looks much much better than it does here. But this picture is funny. Laugh.  Cascarinos has 4 locations at Citi Field - behind the CF scoreboard (aka Taste of the City), in the Caesars Club, in LF Excelsior Level, and in the Promenade Food Court.
