7-Eleven Brooklyn Cyclones Slurpee

On August 1st 7-Eleven stores will start selling their newest sugary summer drink – the Brooklyn Cyclones Slurpee. The Cyclones Slurpee beverage is a mix of Mountain Dew Blue Shock with Berry Citrus flavor - DeeLicious, and good for you too. The slurpee will come in a limited-edition collectible 32-oz cup, adorned with an image of a Cyclones player, and the team’s 2008 game schedule.

7-Eleven has never made a sports team specific cup. That's a little exciting. More exciting: the Cyclones Slurpe launch: Friday at 11a at the 7-Eleven store located on 20th Avenue between 64th and 65th streets in Brooklyn. Cyclones players and mascots will be there, and there will be contests, prizes, and giveaways too.

The first 100 people to purchase a Brooklyn Cyclones Slurpee beverage will also receive two free tickets to see the Cyclones.

Dirtiest Car in the Cyclones Parking Lot Promotion

Tomorrow (Monday) Darryl Strawberry (representing the Mets) will be at KeySpan Park (In Brooklyn, home of the short-season-A Mets) for the Cyclones' 7pm game against Hudson Valley.

Strawberry is also representing Spongetech - the ultimate one-step wash and wax system. He will present the winner (or loser, depending on how you look at it) of the Dirtiest Car in the Parking Lot contest with a Spongetech prize package.

If You have a ticket to the game, and really dirty car, you could meet one of the greatest players ever to wear a Mets uniform.

This is funny. This could be worth the drive to Coney Island, though we generally take the train.

Can anyone watch the game from the Brew City Hawks Nest?

The majority of the Hawks Nest is for our group outings. That said, the Hawks Nest bar area is available with a reservation. Any tables not in use are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Is outside food allowed?

No. We do, however, make exceptions for medical reasons.

Everett AquaSox Frank the Hot Dog Bobblehead Doll

The Everett AquaSox (shortseason-A Mariners) start their season on June 22nd, but June 24th is Frank the Hot Dog Bobblehead Doll night.

The first 1,000 kids 14-and-under will get this somewhat scary looking bobblehead to take home and treasure (read: collect dust and take up space. not that my home isn't full of this kind of crap, just that I wish it wasn't. why can't we say no to freebies? we are living in a material world, still. They should give away hot dogs.)

Japa Dog - do you know about it?

I'm not exactly sure how far the Japa Dog cart is from the Canadians ballpark in Vancouver, but I'd be a fool not to mention this awesome looking "restaurant." Incredible, funky, Japanese hot dogs.

Babies First Ballgame (and Pregnant Women too)

On Monday, September 3rd at 1pm, Baseball’s First Family and the Brooklyn Cyclones will host a very special Labor Day event at KeySpan Park in Coney Island. That day, the Cyclones will be celebrating "Baby's First Ballgame," and inviting parents to take their children to the ballpark to see their first game. There will be no shortage of activities for new and soon-to-be parents in attendance, beginning with a pre-game Diaper Derby on the field. A Look-a-Like contest will be held, allowing fans to choose which parent-baby combination most closely resembles each other. There will also be a post-game family stroll around the bases, and parents are invited to send a photo of their baby wearing Cyclones merchandise to be shown on the video board to maria@thekbuzz.com. In honor of Labor Day, anyone who gives birth at the ballpark after the gates open, but prior to the end of the game will win a pair of Cyclones season tickets for the next 18 years. In addition, all pregnant women will have an opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch just prior to the game.

Post Cyclones: Spumoni Gardens

I know I have a better picture of Spumoni Gardens (aka L&B) but this one gives a sense of the crowd. it's always a madhouse there. even in winter. and, honestly, I'm not exactly sure why.

The patio is amazing; the food, while pretty good, is not. The hot food, that is. The spumoni is awesome. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy my meatball sub after the Cyclones game. And I'm not saying that I haven't enjoyed Veal Parm in the past. But I am saying that the pizza - square or round - is often doughy and undercooked. I do like their sauce. Holy Cow I'm not saying that You shouldn't go there. You should go there. We has TFMJ's birthday there last year (Cyclones game + Spumoni Gardens). I'm just warning you to lower your expectations re: the pizza, and I'm not in love with their pasta either.
