Obviously I realize the Derby is tomorrow - the 4 horse seems to be Super Saver - you know what that means - BUT when I see a large truck on the street that's promoting NASCAR vending, I must take note.

Daytona 500: Feb 14, 2010

Why am I thinking about the Daytona 500 when this weekend the Travers festivities started? Because I recently reviewed my Daytona 500 Trip Photos, and You should too. It's a good little album. Combos at Orioles Spring Training (Fort Lauderdale)

I almost forgot about the Combos at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. I mean, I remembered that I won the big prize, and that for some reason eating combos is part of a Man Zone, but I forgot to look on their site for my photo. I was hoping to link you to them in true internet fashion, but it's impossible as you'd have to fill out 17 forms and use my code and all sorts of other complications.

This Combos employee (top left picture) caught me checking out the Combos trailer. He was funny. He convinced me to come over and spin the wheel (right picture, yes that is really me). At that point I had no idea Combos was a Man Zone, or maybe they had not idea that I was not a man. Hmm. Either way I'm not sure why my question - Why the Heck is it a Man Zone? - is not addressed in their FAQ section. Anyone?

I'm adding this post to NachoFamily because Combos are pretty much chips, and because the free sample Combos distributed at Orioles spring training (and in my big bag of winnings, bottom left picture) were Jalapeno Cheddar Tortilla. Pretty gross. Probably better with beer but I was drinking water at the time. Very smelly. No cholesterol. Official partner of NASCAR. I like the pretzel ones.

The Orioles play the DR in the World Baseball Classic tomorrow. Thursday they're home v the Marlins. No game today, but you can still buy tickets.

NASCAR block party in NYC - Champions Week

Remember last year when the NASCAR people and the NYC people decided it was a good idea to schedule a Victory Lap around Manhattan during rush hour on the same day as the Tree Lighting? Well, they got a bit smarter this year and will host a Block Party instead. That's December 4th. Think Tailgating on 43rd between 7th and 8th, with show cars and race simulators.

Dec 1st - NASCAR Street Tour (vehicles tour NYC and NJ and not sure where else or why exactly)

Dec 2-6 - Pit Stop Tour (show cars in key commuter and tourist spots around the city)

Dec 4-6 - Fan Fest at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square

Dec 5th - Awards Banquet

Daytona 500-themed Beverages

Isn't this cool?

I wrapped two mini coke bottles (below) in t-shirts and flew them home. Haven't tasted the coke inside yet but they seem to be fine. Can't believe that was a month ago. We didn't buy or fly any beer home, by the way.

I would lo+ve it if You could send photos of sports-event-themed beverages to me, or just tell me about them. That way I'll have more incredibly exciting posts like this one. Thanks in advance.
