Pork Pie, the ultimate soccer (footie) food, I'm told

The New York Red Bulls - that's our soccer team you ignoramus - have a fancy new 25,000 seat stadium. It's in New Jersey, because they have space that we don't have and we can get there by public transportation so we can pretend we haven't crossed state lines. Last night some 13,000 people went to a game there - Red Bull Arena - and one of those fans is a friend of ScoreboardGourmet.
So, while some of us were amazed by the Mets-Cardinals 20-inning-game, others were reporting from soccer. And here's what they have to say: you must have Pork Pie at the game (match). Pork Pie-and-Soccer is like Hot Dogs-and-Baseball. The verdict? "Phenomenal. It's an 18-pound ball of pork with pork jelly all over it in a lard crust. Okay, maybe not 18-pounds, but it's heavy."

Everglades BBQ at the Super Bowl, and Pro Bowl, and Dolphins and Marlins Games

Everglades BBQ, as you can see by the photo taken by Steve Cahoon of Centerplate (who recently acquired Boston Culinary Group), is part of the pregame tailgate at Dolphins Stadium. 
In 2008 the concessionaire tried selling BBQ beef to Marlins fans, but it didn't work out because who wants cow when you can have pig! Chefs Dan Filarecki and Orlando Morales then created a pig-based-bbq menu and now there are Everglades BBQ stands and carts throughout the stadium. Yes SG should have mentioned this earlier in the season. Sorry. Next year you can check it out and let me know.

Everglades BBQ is now also in the BankAtlantic Center (Panthers), and the stadiums at Florida, Central Florida, Ole Miss (altered logo there, in place of the gator).

Tarantino Sausage in San Diego

Available at PETCO Park and COSTCO and PIMCO. Just kidding about PIMCO. Felt like throwing another All-Caps acronym in there. Waitl COSTCO isn't an acronym.

Swine Flu in Ballparks and other public places near you

Should I not have had those enchiladas at that Mexican restaurant in East Harlem last night? That's silly (unless someone in the kitchen just returned from spring break - kidding), but here's my public service message, paraphrasing the Mayor: cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough; wash your hands. Always. In public and at home.

Can people catch swine flu from eating pork?
No. Swine influenza viruses are not transmitted by food. You can not get swine influenza from eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled and cooked pork and pork products is safe. Cooking pork to an internal temperature of 160°F kills the swine flu virus as it does other bacteria and viruses.

super v kosher at city of palms park

(fort myers; red sox spring training). re: hot dogs: super is longer and costs 75cents more ($5) than kosher.  and both are actually kosher, say vendors.

p.s. $5.25 for italian sausage (right picture); line justified; better than hot dogs of any size, and I think I know why. hint: oink.
