Root Beer floats at Target Field

Killebrew Root Beer, both a regional brand and a product named to honor the Twins slugger, will be served at Target Field concessions and restaurants and also used to make root beer (ice cream) floats WHICH WILL BE VENDED THROUGHOUT THE BALLPARK! And made to order with single-serve Blue Bunny scoops. Awesome. Thanks to Cafe Cyan / Bite of Minnesota Crystal for letting me photograph hers (above; I'd already pounded mine).

US Open Tennis Ferry; it's free but you need to make a res

As I read it in Crains (including the typo):

Tennis fans can catch a free ferry ride to the U.S. Open from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, thanks to a sponsorship deal between New York Water Taxi and Coca-Cola.
Ferries will leave from the East River at East 35th Street and arrive at the World’s Fair Marina, where shuttle buses will spare passengers a 20-minute walk to Arthur Asche Stadium. New York Water Taxi will make a number of round trips, starting at 9:30 a.m. from Manhattan and leaving Flushing, Queens, as late as 11:45 p.m. Reservations on the 149-passenger vessels are required and can be made online via the ferry company’s Web site.
Coca-Cola is paying to “wrap” one of the boats, which will feature the logo of its sports drink, Powerade Zero, as well as an image of tennis great Venus Williams.

Pepsi thinks it's a, um, power-enhancer? Great message. Do many superheroes get their powers from soda? Or is this the team excuse for recent performance? Drink soda and you too can have the 'power' of the Yankees.

$1 Food Concessions for Brewers and Reds Fans

This is awesome. Delaware North / Sportservice will run$1 Item Concession Stands at two ballparks this season. Look for $1 food concessions stands in Cincinnati and Milwaukee, two towns with names that are a challenge to spell.

Everything sold at the $1 stand will be $1. The portions will be slightly smaller, which means you can try more things. Love it. It's so much better and smarter and healthier and better than any other food promotion I've seen. Am I right? If these stands are a success we'll see them in other ballparks too.

The Great American Ball Park will have hot dogs, soda, peanuts, candy and popcorn at two $1 stands. At Miller Park you can get hot dogs, soda, ice cream, peanuts, popcorn, and cookies. What do You think about that?
