SG watched Maria Kirilenko beat Maria Sharapova the other night, but otherwise has not been paying much attention to what's going on in Melbourne. Then, today, I noticed this definition on Australian Open website:

The zero resembles an egg. In French, 'the egg' is pronounced 'l'oeuf' which sounds very much like 'love' in English.

I really enjoy that. And here's what they have to say about Eating in Melbourne. Some restaurants participate in a deal called Summer Serve in which you get two entrees for the price of one (a grander slam for your buck). Nice.

Too bad the chocolate was milk, not dark, but still enjoyable cookies, especially with my homemade tea. SG likes this type of sponsor giveaway, much better than the unfoldable fans, even if it takes more than a week to get the picture through. Nice timing, Verizon. Btw, the fans and the cookies were distributed on different days. Quarterfinals for cookies. Earlier round for fans. Interpret that as you wish.

Men's tennis final us open food concessions mobbed, people angry

Some stands had no cups, other had no beer, most ran out of food before the third set. Yikes. 14 days of practice not enough for the Levy folks. Angry, angry fans waiting on long, long lines only to walk away empty-handed.

Oh, you thought I was going to say something about Miss Manners Serena Williams? Nope. Just want you to see what it looks like when Rain Delays send everyone to food. ALL of Arthur Ashe's concourses looked this way the other night. And inside? Trash blowing around so much the lifeguard had to ask people to keep their garbage at their feet. Lovely.

What do you call those things? We can't think of the word. But we know it's not Pink Dishrag. This is what a vendor at the US Open offered my friend when he mentioned his cup was too hot to hold.

None of these sound right either. What do you call the thing you slip over a disposable cup holding a hot beverage?
